LACE

"Lace fabrics are beautiful and delicate due to their intricate patterns. They require extra care - here’s how to keep them looking their best."

Lace Fabric Care Guide

Lace fabrics, characterized by their open, web-like patterns, can be made from yarns or threads and are often crafted from linen, silk, gold, or silver traditionally. Today, cotton and synthetic fibers are more common. Lace comes in various types like Chantilly, bobbin, needle, crochet, tatting, and guipure, each with unique characteristics. We primarily use lace in our bridal collections to add a special touch to your big day.

Care Instructions:

  • Check the Care Label: Always refer to the care label first. If lace is attached to a garment or lining, follow the care instructions for both the garment and the lace. Professional cleaning is often recommended.
  • Machine Washing: Use the “handwash” cycle on your machine with a delicates wash bag and a gentle, cool detergent suitable for delicate fabrics.
  • Hand Washing: If hand washing, fill a bowl with hand-warm water and add a gentle detergent for delicate fabrics. Gently swish the garment in the water without scrubbing to avoid distorting the fibers. Rinse several times with tepid water and gently squeeze out excess water. Avoid rubbing and wringing.
  • Preparation for Washing: Button and zip up garments completely before washing to prevent tearing the lace.
  • Drying: Do not tumble dry. Air dry on a flat surface, gently stretching the fabric to maintain its shape. Use pins if necessary to hold the lace in place.
  • Ironing: Avoid ironing lace. If necessary, iron while still slightly damp. Use a low temperature and place a fine fabric between the lace and the iron to prevent melting and squashing the pattern. Iron on the reverse side and use a thick towel for protection.
  • Storage: Store lace wrapped in acid-free tissue paper in a clean, dry environment, away from sunlight. Fold properly to maintain its shape.

By following these care guidelines, you can preserve the beauty and integrity of your lace garments.
