"Think of viscose and lyocell as tree-derived silk - it requires the same gentle care to maintain its beauty over time.”
Viscose and Lyocell Fabric Care Guide
Viscose and Lyocell are semi-synthetic fibers derived from natural sources like wood. They are processed into cellulosic fibers using chemicals, resulting in soft, skin-friendly materials with high dry strength.
VISCOSE
To ensure environmentally responsible production, we source our viscose from producers who avoid Ancient and Endangered Forests and have been rated “Green Shirt” by Canopy’s Hot Button ranking. This certification indicates responsible sourcing practices audited by third-party organizations. Our viscose primarily comes from FSC-certified producers like ENKA and Lenzing.
LYOCELL
TENCEL™ Lyocell is an eco-friendly fiber made from wood pulp sourced from certified, sustainably managed forests. It is produced using an environmentally friendly closed-loop system patented by Lenzing. TENCEL™ Lyocell offers exceptional color brilliance, a soft touch, and supports the body's natural thermal regulation.
Care Instructions:
- Consult the Care Label: Always check the care label for specific instructions related to color, print, construction, or end-use.
- Washing Needs: Determine if your garment needs washing or if airing it out will refresh it.
- Machine Washing: Avoid standard machine wash cycles due to intense twisting. Use the hand wash or wool cycle on your machine, and wash in cold water (30°C can be too hot). Select a low-speed spin cycle (up to 600 rpm). For some viscose garments, dry cleaning may be necessary if specified on the care label.
- Post-Washing: For viscose, place the garment on a thick towel to absorb excess water. This helps eliminate water without wringing.
- Drying: Always air dry viscose and lyocell garments to prevent shrinking and tears. This method is also better for the environment.
- Ironing: Iron garments inside out on a low temperature, avoiding direct heat on seams to prevent marks. Alternatively, you can steam the garment on a low setting.
- Handling Shrinkage and Wrinkles: Viscose and lyocell can shrink and wrinkle easily. Carefully ironing or steaming can help expand and soften the material.
By following these care guidelines, you can maintain the quality and appearance of your viscose and lyocell garments.
